Course Description

Students will engage in design, making and coding with a creative twist. Using cardboard, robotics kits, code and craft supplies , they will  create robotic pet animals and control them with sensors and actuators .  Finally,  adding sounds and light to their animals will bring them to life.  

In this course, students will:

Learn creative design thinking, problem-solving, and social skills.

Learn how to code in JavaScript .

Learn to build simple logic circuits

Complete fun projects and activities

Projects Students will work on

A broad set of topics are covered in the construction of a robot pet, including:

Programming (input and output, variables, functions, control loops)

Electronics (simple circuits, lights, motors, sensors)

Physical Prototyping (spatial thinking, structural stability, mechanisms)

Design (working on a design team, designing for an audience, creating a character)
